Cam Frolo entered Saturday’s nonsection contest with McKeesport aiming to make history.
The Monessen soccer standout was just five goals away from 100 in his impressive career as a Greyhound, but he was playing for far more than just a historic milestone.
Less than 24 hours after learning that his grandmother passed away early following a battle with cancer, Frolo netted five goals and reached the 100 career goal plateau in the Greyhounds’ 6-5 win over the Tigers.
“Saturday was very emotional being that it was senior night and our cancer awareness ceremony,” Frolo said. “I played Saturday for her because I knew she would want me to. It took a lot to play through that. She was very supportive and always asked about my games and how I did. I know she was watching me in spirit and to be able to score 100 on that night, meant a lot to me.”
