George Benson – Monessen

George Benson, 64, of Monessen, peacefully went home to be with Lord early Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2019. He was born April 18, 1955, to the late Judge Benson Sr. and Sophie Ophelia Wright. George worked as a heavy equipment operator for Federicks Construction Company in McMurray for over 20 years. George retired in 2016 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He loved all of his family. He would say how close they were and everybody had a nickname that he gave to each and every one and knew every one of them. He was loved by so many. He was a comedian and kept you laughing. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Cameche Lynn Benson of Monessen, and Shatema Marie Benson of Pittsburgh; one son, Michael Benson of Charleroi; three brothers, Judge Benson Jr. of  Monessen, Minister Charles Webb of Munhall and Albert Craig of Lancaster, N.Y.; two sisters, Loretta Cunningham of Monessen, and Tapzyana Thomas of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Miller; and brother, James “Butch” Benson; sister, Paulette Monroe; and brother, Percy Monroe. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at the funeral home. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora Karl Jackson, funeral director, 724-379-5420.
