Faced with a rare test, Thomas Jefferson won with a familiar formula.

Dylan Mallozzi rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns Friday night and the Jaguars defense was dominant again in a 28-3 nonconference victory over Central Valley.

Both teams entered undefeated with Thomas Jefferson (7-0) ranked first in WPIAL Class 4A, and Central Valley (6-1) second in Class 3A. It was a revival of sorts for two rivals that used to meet in the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs.

“In the long run, this game really doesn’t mean anything,” TJ coach Bill Cherpak said “But it’s a great game to be a part of and play. Nice atmosphere. Big crowd. I told our kids, there aren’t a lot of kids that get to play in games like this.”
