Joseph E. ‘Butch’ Buckeye – Rostraver Township
Joseph E. “Butch” Buckeye, 77, of Rostraver Township, died at home Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, following a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. Born in Victory Hill on Dec. 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Lena Ghilani Buckeye. Joseph was a 1959 graduate of Charleroi High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War Era. Joseph was employed at the Wheeling/Pittsburgh Steel Rail Mill in Monessen. He was a member of the Church of St. Anne. He had a keen interest in the Slovak language and their traditions and was a member of the National Slovak Society. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Hudock Buckeye and he passed away on their anniversary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant, in 1970 and his sister, Patricia, in 1991. At the request of the family, a funeral Mass was celebrated, followed by private interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Donora. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the JAMES C.
