Edgar Isbell Jr. “Cuzz”, 93, of Charleroi, died Sept. 23, 2019. He was born in Monessen on Jan. 22, 1926, to the late Edgar Isbell Sr. and Norma Lee Isbell. The family settled in Charleroi. He was the youngest of two children. His sister, Ruby Christine Brown, is deceased. After graduating from Charleroi Area High School in 1943, Edgar served in the Air Force for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Edgar returned to Charleroi after his time in the Air Force, where he worked alongside his father and uncles in the coal mines. Not liking being underground, Edgar found employment with U.S. Steel, and after 30 years of employment with U.S. Steel, he retired. He then went to work for Western Center for 15 years. After retiring from Western Center, he become a country farmer. Edgar was a man with many skills: a carpenter, an electrician, a plumber, a roofer and construction worker. With those skills, he built a beautiful house where he and Gladys raised their family. On April 4, 1953, Edgar married Gladys M. Wilson of Fitz Henry, Pa. They had three daughters, Deborah Anne (deceased), Constance Jean and Patricia Roxanne. Edgar accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was an active member at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church all his life. He served as trustee for many years. He used his skills to help rebuild the church after it had been damaged by fire. Like his parents, he and Gladys raised their children in the Lord at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Edgar was a lover of books, board games, bowling, card games, cross word puzzles, good food and music. He volunteered at the Center in the Woods. He also was active member of the Mon Valley SAC. Edgar is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys; two daughters: Constance and Patricia (Michael); son-in-law, Maurice; four granddaughters, Marion, Maurelle, Meredith and Oliva; one grandson, Jose; two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Caprice; two great-grandsons, Kieran and Jalen, one grand puppy, China; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at which time services will be held with Pastor Diane Hobson giving the eulogy. Interment will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA 15062, 724-684-4877, Trudy L. Taylor, funeral director, in charge.
