Thomas Jefferson knew if it kept putting pressure on Gateway, the dam would eventually break. And that it did. In a section game against the Gators (0-6) on Thursday, Thomas Jefferson (4-0-3) secured a 2-0 victory, getting a goal a piece in the first and second periods.
“I was pleased. I was pleased with the outcome,” said Jaguars coach Doc Kulish. “The guys earned a win and the defense stood up when they had to stand up.”
The Jaguars have had some early season obstacles, but have mitigated them well. Their star goalkeeper, Jack Wessel, is out for the season after suffering a knee injury against Franklin Regional on Tuesday. Dylan Sullivan, one of the team’s better defenders, is also hurt right now.
That ability to handle adversity was on display against Gateway. In the first ten minutes, both teams struggled to get much going on the offensive end, with most plays meandering harmlessly.
