George Hazen ‘Hambone’ Hemmings – Donora

George Hazen “Hambone” Hemmings, 82, of Donora, passed away on Sunday Sept. 1, 2019, in Mon Valley Care Center. He was born on Jan. 16, 1937, in Monongahela, son of the late John W. and Mary Herrington Hemmings. Hambone was a 1955 graduate from Donora High School and had worked for Frank Irey, Combustion Engineering, Liggett Spring and Axle, and J & L Steel. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Thomas and Julia Iaquinta; seven brothers, John, T. David, Herbert, Don, Richard “Skip”, Paul and Robbie Lynn Hemmings; a sister, Shirley May Seighman; and by his grandson and buddy, Jacob Thomas Hudak. He is survived by his wife, Maryrose Iaquinta Hemmings, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 10, 2019. He is also survived by his children, Cynthia (Dan) Lowden of Fallowfield Township, John (Bridget) Hemmings of Donora, Diane (Geno Conn) Hemmings of Monessen, and George (Gina) Hemmings of Navarre, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Tara (Tim Wentzell) Lenhart, Julie (Alan Wheatley) Hudak, Erin (Don) Maxon, Ashley (Cory Lupori) Hemmings, Jesse (Lauren Riley) Hemmings, Natasha (Brett) Thompson, Elizabeth (Bryan) Wilcox; two brothers, Howard Leroy “Lee” and Harold “Boots” Hemmings; five sisters, Peggy Pohts, Alice Ingram, Ruth MacDougall, Carol Lee and Donna Pocky; great-grandchildren, Conner, Elliot, Finlee, Garret, Hazen Grace, Alexis and Bella; and nieces and nephews by the dozens all across the country. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
