Encouraging moments for Rams in loss

Ringgold’s season opener started out well enough for first-year Rams head coach Darwin Manges and his squad, but it didn’t end that way as Chartiers Valley ran away with a 42-0 victory.
After holding Chartiers Valley to a scoreless first quarter, Ringgold began to wear down midway through the second and the Colts broke through. They put up 21 points in the second quarter and another 21 in the third to start the running clock that made for a quick final frame.
“We played some inspired ball for the first quarter and a half; 0-0 after one, then 7-0, then it kind of just spiraled,” Manges said. “Gave up some big plays, tackling was really killing us, blocking.
“It was disappointing to have it end like that. We’re heading in the right direction. Like all coaches do, I have expectations. We want to have a good football team. We want to get back to playing Rams football, tough football, and for a quarter and a half, we did.”
