Brick by brick, SA boys look to build program

Before last season began, the South Allegheny boys soccer program was in danger of not having enough members to field a team when a crop of brand new players came on the scene.
“Last year, we weren’t going to have a team. We ended up with nine first-year players who’d never played the game before,” said head coach Dean Vickers.
Several of those players were seniors who have since graduated. Some of those players are back. And once again, there are new additions who have never played before.
That’s one of the keys for Vickers’ squad this season, building the program, one brick at a time, whether the bricks are familiar with the building materials or not.
