Man accused in pet store theft to stand trial

A Belle Vernon man accused of swiping snakes, iguanas, worms, mice and other items from a West Newton pet store will stand trial in Westmoreland County Court.
On Monday, Bobby Louis Crosby Jr., 39, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner in Rostraver Township.
Crosby is accused of breaking into Riverside Pets on East Main Street in West Newton July 29.
Stolen articles included two green iguanas, one six-foot python snake valued at $350, one box of worms, seven mice, a two-foot-long Columbian boa snake valued at $350 and other merchandise, including a 10-gallon-tank, a snake cage lock, a double dome light and five heating bulbs.
