Aloa L. Brown, 93, of California, Pa., passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, in her home. She was born in Charleroi on July 15, 1926, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Cochanour Peters. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Monessen High School with the Class of 1944. She worked at U.S. Steel Christy Park Works grinding shell casings during World War II. She was a member of Roscoe Methodist Church and the former Allenport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are four daughters, Sharon and husband Sam Horner, Nancy Knight, Mary and husband Rico Capanna and Carol and husband Brett Huber; son, John and wife Joyce Brown; grandchildren, Bill and wife Francesca Brown, Heather Eloshway, Sam and Michel Horner, Tom and wife Lisa Knight, Brian Horner and Nicole Salvino, Nicole Brown, Rick Brown, Breanna and husband Justin Deutsch; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, John Brown; sisters, Helen Revak and Laura Comarda; and her son-in-law, Tom Knight. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, with Pastor Rick Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
