Bertha M. Brooks Sowers – Donora

Bertha M. Brooks Sowers, 89, of Donora, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Monongahela. Born in Rostraver Township on Sept. 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James and Annie Upperman Brooks. Bertha was Methodist by faith and loved to knit and crochet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Sowers Sr.; and two children, Barbara A. Yuhasz and Russell Sowers Jr. Survivors include her son, John H. Sowers of Donora; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019. A service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, with the Rev. Michael Milinovich officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
