Katherine R. Hatalowich – Perryopolis

Katherine R. Hatalowich, 91, of Perryopolis, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019. A daughter of the late John and Anna Kohut Mohus, she was born in Monessen on Jan. 3, 1928. A lifelong resident of Perry Township, Katherine was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Belle Vernon where she was active in the St. Barbara’s Altar Guild and baking paskas for the church. Katherine spent many years as a cook at Frick Hospital. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Georgeann and Lawrence Slebodnik, Marilyn Smalley and Patty and Ron Minor, all of Perryopolis; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Wendy Hatalowich of Perryopolis, and Michael and Donna Hatalowich of Fayette City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hatalowich, on March 13, 1993; a son, Robert Hatalowich; two granddaughters, Tammie Scarvel and Jennifer Means; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Rosensteel. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com, 724-929-5300. Funeral services will be in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Belle Vernon at 11:30 a.m. Monday with Father Stephan Gresh officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parastas services will be in the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care of their mother.
