Joan DiSora Kopcak, 90, of Monongahela, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her family. Born March 15, 1929, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of Anthony and Anna Day DiSora. For many years, with her late husband, Richard, they had owned the former Friend-Lee Bakery in Monongahela and then later the Rainbow Craft Shop. A 1947 graduate of Monongahela High School, Joan was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish (formerly Transfiguration Church) in Monongahela where she enjoyed singing in their choir. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and sewing, but most of all was an avid cross stitcher. Surviving are a daughter Linda Jane and husband Don “Woody” Martin of French Creek, W.Va.; three sons, Richard E. and wife Jan Kopcak of Charleroi, David Kopcak of Indian Head, Md., and Robert and wife Carrie Kopcak of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; a sister, Pauline DiSora of Monongahela; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Martin and fiancé Beth Billington, Melissa (Evan) Burks, Susan Martin and fiancé Jordan Stafford and John Kopcak; and two great-grandchildren, Emery and Norah Burks; and a sister-in-law, Helen DiSora of Monongahela. Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard E. Kopcak, who died in August 1994; and a brother, Primo DiSora. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela with Father Patrick Barkey as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
