There isn’t much Ronnie Drennen loves more than teaching and coaching.
That’s evident in his coaching style, his overall enthusiasm for the game and the bond he has developed with his players.
The passion possessed by Drennen, who will enter his second season as Belle Vernon Area head girls basketball coach this fall, is one of the reasons why the future of the program is so bright.
Another reason for the optimism surrounding the program is the young talent Drennen has within the high school and middle school programs.
“It’s definitely encouraging to have the talent that is there right now and the commitment from the girls has been really special as well. They’re very committed to getting better every day,” said Drennen, the reigning Mon Valley Independent-BeeGraphix Girls Coach of the Year, who led the Leopards to the playoffs in his first year as head coach.
