AMD wraps up regular season title

AMD Industries used a big fourth quarter effort to clinch the regular season title outright with a slim 29-25 victory over Dax Thomas State Farm in J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League play Wednesday at the Mechanic Street Playground in California.
AMD (9-1), which suffered its first loss of the summer due to forfeit on Monday, outscored State Farm, 12-5, in the final six minutes of play.
A deep 3-pointer by Thomas Jefferson’s Ashley Guidone gave AMD a 27-25 lead with 1:29 remaining. It was an advantage AMD would not relinquish as Guidone and Charleroi’s Bella Skobel each hit shots from the free throw line to seal the victory and send their team to the playoffs as the No. 1 seed.
