Plenty of ways to be part of Monongahela’s 250th anniversary celebration

The Monongahela 250th anniversary celebration is a little more than two weeks away and there are still many ways for people to get involved.

The party kicks off Aug. 8 with the opening of a time capsule in Chess Park at 11 a.m. and ends Aug. 11 with a 3 p.m. concert featuring Jakobs Ferry Stragglers.

Residents and business owners are invited to participate in a patriotic decorations contest. Judging will begin July 26.

The categories include best overall on Main Street, running through Monongahela and New Eagle; best business or commercial building; best residence; best use of bunting; and best student art work on business window, for artists in kindergarten through 12th grade and college students.
