Donora borough council held a special meeting Thursday to approve a payment and hire a part-time member of the street crew.

Council agreed to pay nearly $50,000 to Plavchak Construction for the Donora catch-basin replacement project.

The project cost a total of $94,439, and after this month’s payment, the borough will owe a little less than $26,000.

Council also voted to hire Jacob Bupp as a part-time public works employee at a rate of $12 per hour.
