Bernard “Bat” Marmie, 80, of Donora, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his home. He was born on Sept. 7, 1938, in Monessen, the son of the late Bernard A. and Edith Domenick Marmie. Bernard grew up in Monessen and was a graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1968. Bernard had worked at the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and had also worked as a DJ for various venues. He was a member of the former PNA Club in Monessen. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Peters Marmie; step-daughter, Linda (Scott) Young of Lima, Ohio; stepson, Bill (Stephanie) Lang of Lake Butler, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Bronson; brother, Raymond F. Marmie of Pahrump, Nev.; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Marmie and Geraldine N. McMurray; and a brother, Donald Marmie. Friends will be received at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday. Services will be held at noon, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
