Four McKeesport residents — two teens and two who have been serving the community for many decades — were honored during the city’s quarterly “Living the Message Awards” ceremony last week.

Mayor Michael Cherepko handed out awards to Nya O’Neal, Danielle “Dee” List, Gladys Hunt Mason and Jeffrey K. Blackwell during the July council meeting on behalf of the McKeesport Message Committee.

“Awarding the Living The Message Awards is without question one of the things I regularly look forward to as your mayor,” Cherepko said. “When you have the opportunity to have individuals recommended for an award from others around the community it is truly inspiring.

“These are people who live our message of Respect, Hope, Dignity and Love each and every day. They inspire without question. When you talk about that message and you really sit and think about — if everyone lived by that message, well, how great of a world it would be.”
