For the first two and a half minutes of Monday night’s contest with Cedarbrook, Dax Thomas State Farm was unable to remove its goose egg from the scoreboard.
When it finally came through with its first basket, however, there was no stopping Tom Rodriguez’s squad.
State Farm used a huge 25-3 run to gain separation early in a convincing 49-21 victory over Cedarbrook in J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League girls action at California Middle School.
Rachel Wobrak and Maddy Trainer led the way for State Farm (3-0), combining for 33 points. Wobrak, a senior from Belle Vernon Area, poured in a game-high 21 points, including 14 during State Farm’s large first-half run. Trainer scored seven of her 12 points in the opening 12 minutes.
