Mon Yough Community Services Development Manager Nancy Shelton is desperately seeking donations from the community to help keep an annual summer program running.
On Friday, Shelton announced that if MYCS doesn’t get $26,000 worth of donations by Tuesday, it will not be able to hold its annual summer camp program at Angora Gardens in White Oak.
MYCS is a mental health services provider that is based in downtown McKeesport. Through its dozens of programs, the organization aims to foster hope, renewal, healing and wellness for those who face the challenges of mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities.
Angora Gardens is owned and operated by MYCS. The facilities at Angora Gardens were once used to provide rehabilitation and recovery services to people in need of social rehabilitation to help them develop or regain the skills necessary to live, work and socialize in the community. More recently, Angora Gardens was re-positioned as a wellness center, open to the public for a number of free classes, including topics such as nutrition, holistic health, fitness, gardening and arts and crafts.
