Elizabeth Forward pitcher Kailey Larcinese admitted she was pretty nervous entering Monday’s WPIAL quarterfinal against Indiana at Gateway High School in Monroeville.
The Warriors weren’t on the field for a meaningful game for 13 days, and Larcinese was sick for one of the team’s scrimmages over that time.
But her teammates helped her, jumping out to an early lead before cruising to a swift 5-1 win over the Indians to push Elizabeth Forward into the WPIAL semifinals.
In a game that took a little over an hour to play, the Warriors’ two through five hitters combined to go 8 for 11.
