Trojans not worried about layoff

Lou Pasquale wasn’t taking any chances wondering if an 11-day layoff would hurt his top-seeded California Trojans going into their WPIAL 1A quarterfinal baseball game with Eden Christian Monday.
On Thursday, the Trojans (15-1) played a game-condition scrimmage with Keystone Oaks, one of the top seeds in 3A.
“We played it like a game as best we could and I was pretty happy how we did,” Pasquale said. “I know our last real game was a while ago, but I’m not worrying about being rusty at all. I think we’re ready.”
As the top seed, California had a first-round bye while Eden Christian (11-8) had to play a game against West Greene, which the Warriors won, 7-5.
