Serra Catholic saw its five-game winning streak come to a close on Wednesday at Renziehausen Park as a tough Vincentian Academy squad took its second win of the season over the Eagles by a score of 4-1 in Section 2-2A play.
Just like the first meeting between the two teams, Serra Catholic faced Royals’ star pitcher Elizabeth Arnold. Unlike the first meeting between these teams, the Eagles (7-3, 7-2) were able to crack onto the scoreboard against Arnold.
But it didn’t come easy.
With leadoff batters Madison Carr and Nina Grandey aboard in the first, Arnold ended the threat with a trio of strikeouts to close the inning.
