Rams’ defense, Angotti stifle Warriors

There’s some bad news for baseball’s Section 3-4A.
The defending state champions are hitting their stride.
Chase Angotti fired a five-hitter and his offense slugged out 12 hits as the Rams rolled over host Elizabeth Forward, 6-1, at Wylie Field in Elizabeth Thursday.
A day after dropping a tough, one-run game at Belle Vernon Wednesday night, Warriors coach Frank Champ said his team was flat from the start. Something you can’t do against a defending state champion.
“Not taking away anything from (Angotti), but we were just really flat,” Champ said. “He pitched a nice game and I’m not making excuses, but we had a tough game last night and the kids were off school today. The routine was different and we were just a little off.”
