The South Allegheny School District will furlough four teachers and cut a full-time health aide to part-time for the 2019-2020 school year.
The furloughed positions include a full-time secondary science teacher, a full-time secondary physical education teacher and a full-time elementary teacher.
The changes were approved in a 6-3 vote at Wednesday night’s school board meeting with Bryan Myers and Troy Mitchell voting no and Amy Moranelli-Johnson abstaining.
Michael Crown, president of the South Allegheny Education Association, said the union didn’t want to see any job losses and was hoping that the district would go in a different direction.
