Waywood pitches, hits Yough to victory over Greensburg Salem

Kierra Waywood threw a complete game shutout and drove in five runs as Yough rolled to a 12-0 victory over Greensburg Salem in Section 1-4A play on Thursday.
On the mound, Waywood surrendered four hits while walking one and striking out 10. At the plate, she went 3 for 5 out of the leadoff spot with a double and a seventh inning grand slam that made it 11-0 in favor of the Cougars (6-4, 4-1).
Waywood was one of six Yough players to finish with multi-hit games. Kaylyn Odelli, Savannah Manns, Hannah Christner, Corrin Parquette and Katelyn Chilzer each had two hits in the win. Odelli and Christner drove in a pair of runs each while Parquette and Hadley Sleith also added RBIs.
Kasey Storkel had two of the four hits for Greensburg Salem (2-6, 1-4).
