Three first inning runs were all Ligonier Valley needed in a 3-1 victory over Belle Vernon Area in nonsection play Saturday.
The Rams (4-0) took an early 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run single to center field by Courtney McKlveen, who finished with three hits.
After a double by Jane Garver put runners on second and third, Abi Cmar grounded out to score McKlveen and make it a three-run game.
The Leopards (1-4) finally came through with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning as a two-out double by Ashley Joll put them in business.
One batter later, Sophia Godzak singled into left field to score Joll and give BVA its first and only run.
