The Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce is continuing an educational effort in the Mon Valley.
On Wednesday, the chamber hosted the third annual educational conference, this year with a focus on leadership. The event was held at Monongahela Valley Hospital’s Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center in Carroll Township.
In past years, the conference has been geared toward women in business and multi-generational work places.
This year, the conference focused on “Be the Best You” and was geared toward area leaders of all ages.
The theme was generated through “a brainstorm of cohorts,” GRC Executive Director Gina Lynn said, with help from Melissa Marion, director of the Monongahela Valley Hospital Foundation and local business owner, Casey Clark of Off the Wall Arts and Perked Up Café.
In addition to members of the chamber, representatives from Community Bank, the GRC board of directors and students from Belle Vernon Area’s Emerging Leadership Program attended the event, which encouraged leadership through selflessness.
Featured speakers were Patrick O’Brien, president of Community Bank, who spoke about servant leadership; Dr. Stephanie McHugh, BVA high school counselor, spoke about the total leader; and Chris Flickinger, CEO/Performance Accelerator at Performance Mindset & Development, spoke about inspiring productivity and positive culture.
