Shooting woes hinder Rams in QF loss

When Phil Pergola thought about the potential outcomes of his Ringgold team’s matchup with New Castle, he envisioned a number of scenarios.

Perhaps the top-seeded Red Hurricane would overwhelm Ringgold with its press. Perhaps New Castle would get the better of the Rams with its athleticism. Or maybe, Ringgold could keep close, and possibly eek out a win. Never, though did Pergola envision his team shooting so poorly.

In its 4A quarterfinals matchup on Saturday, Ringgold made just two 3-pointers and shot 8 of 16 from the free throw line. Whether the shot was open, contested, from inside or outside, the Rams struggled to find any sort of shooting rhythm. And that weighed heavy.

A miraculous season that saw the Rams go from three wins last year to 14 this season finally ended, as Ringgold fell 64-52 to New Castle.
