Herman W. Anthony, 84, of Forward Township, Monongahela, died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in his home. He was born April 18, 1934, in Forward Township, the son of Michael James Anthony and Minnie Pearl Fine Anthony. ​ From 1963 to 1976, Herman was employed as a police officer for the Forward Township Police Department. He retired in 1996 after 44 years of employment at U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. His memberships include River Hill Church of Christ in Forward Township, the Forward Township Fire Department and the Fraternal Order of Police. Herman enjoyed gardening, gambling, traveling, spending time with his family, hunting, bird watching, building and engineering projects and bowling at Brunswick Lanes in Rostraver.​ He is survived by a daughter, Debra A. Anthony Hunt and husband David Hunt of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Randy M. Anthony and wife Deborah L. Prosser Anthony of Forward Township, Elizabeth; granddaughter, Angela L. Anthony and her good friend Andrew Nagy of Avalon, Pittsburgh;  sister, Harriett K. Rapp of River Hill, Monongahela; and a brother-in-law, James Julian of River Hill, Forward Township.​ In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Marjorie “Marge” Coates Anthony, whom he married on Aug. 17, 1958, in Winchester, Va., and who died on May 12, 1996; a brother and sister-in-law, James J. Anthony and wife Elva Jean Anthony; a sister, Audrey F. Julian; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Rapp.​ Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, with the Rev. Paul Eisaman officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the River Hill Church of Christ, 2501 River Hill Road, Monongahela, PA 15063. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com​.
