Serra settles for second seed

And so it begins.
The WPIAL’s second season is under way as the league released its playoff brackets Tuesday.
The Mon Valley nearly claimed one of the No. 1 seeds, but the Serra Catholic boys’ late push for the top spot fell just short and the Eagles were awarded the second seed in Class 2A.
“I knew when the rankings came out over the weekend that we weren’t going to get the one,” Eagles coach Justin Walther said. “With a win over Jeannette and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart losing to Sewickley, I thought that could be enough.”
