Elizabeth Forward stands alone atop the Section 3-4A totem pole.

The Warriors earned sole possession of the top spot with a dramatic 45-44 victory over Southmoreland Thursday night.

The win gives EF (13-5, 11-1) a split of the season series with Southmoreland – which topped the Warriors, 46-40, in their first meeting Jan. 7.

“I didn’t want it to be this close or down to the wire, but we knew it was going to be,” Elizabeth Forward head coach Krystal Gibbs said. “We knew neither team was going to come out and blow the other away. It was going to come down to heart and hustle, and that’s really what it came down to.
