Serra Catholic continued their hot string of play winning their sixth game in a row as they toppled California, 71-52, Friday.
Despite the win, signs of rust by the Eagles had head coach Justin Walther a little disappointed about how his team played.
“I should be happy with a 20-point win on our home floor but I’m not,” said Walther. “Tonight was the definition of a game where we haven’t played in a week. We were out of game speed and some things are just slower. California pushed the pace a little bit and our transition defense was lacking.”
Serra Catholic (7-2, 4-0) had the three ball working early hitting four in the first quarter as part of a 19-point attack.
Senior Jimmy Moon scored 11 of his 14 points in the first quarter, including three treys, and had his team ahead 19-7 after one quarter of play.
