Monessen evened its overall record and started off the section slate on the right foot Friday with a dominant win at Geibel in Connellsville to start off Section 2-A play.
The Greyhounds were led by 22 points from forward Elijahwa Payne.
“He did a really great job of going after the basketball tonight. And I thought our kids did a good job of entering the ball to him on the inside,” Monessen coach Dan Bosnic said. “They’re understanding that we want to get the ball to him on the inside and take advantage of the things he can do.”
Freshman guard Devin Whitlock finished with 18 points for the Greyhounds and Darnel Howell chipped in 14.
