Big changes are coming to the Mon Valley Alliance leadership this year.

On Friday, John Easoz, chairman of the board of directors of the Mon Valley Alliance and Mon Valley Alliance Foundation, announced the resignation of Christopher Whitlatch as chief executive officer.

Whitlatch was the first CEO for the organization, which was formed in 2016 as a result of the mergers of the former Middle Monongahela Industrial Development Association and the Mon Valley Progress Council.

The organization has completed several successful and ongoing projects under Whitlatch, including bringing new companies to the Alta Vista Industrial Park in Fallowfield Township; leading redevelopment efforts in Charleroi and Monongahela, including the demolition of the Atlas building and Charleroi Stadium and ongoing redevelopment of the Coyle Theater; and assisting local organizations with Community Foundation grants to further their missions.
