Monessen feels misled on settlement

Monessen council’s Wednesday meeting turned tumultuous during discussion of the city’s recent settlement with ArcelorMittal.
In a consent decree issued through the Department of Environmental Protection late last year, the Monessen-based coke plant was forced to pay a $1.8 million settlement to federal, state and local entities over air pollution from the plant.
