Landslide threatens fourth Fallowfield property

It has been a little over a month since three homes along Woodward Avenue in Fallowfield Township were condemned, leaving families displaced and neighbors worried.
Unfortunately, supervisors did not have much new information to offer during a business meeting Wednesday night.
Residents at 527, 529 and 533 Woodward Ave. received notices that their homes were uninhabitable after the ground drastically shifted and caused significant structural damage Sept. 26.
A fourth home may also soon be at risk as wet weather continues to shift the already moving ground.
With little new news to report, Supervisor Bruce Smith said the township engineer, North Charleroi Borough engineer and a geotechnical engineer from K2 are working together as a cost savings measure to determine the amount of ground movement and corrective action needed to fix it.
Smith said the Woodward landslide is a unique situation because the homes are within Fallowfield Township but part of the yards and most of the alley, which is also known as Locust Lane, fall in North Charleroi.
