Man to stand trial for crash that resulted in amputation

A West Newton man accused of causing an accident that resulted in the amputation of his girlfriend’s arm has been ordered to stand trial in Westmoreland County.

Jamie Lee Converso, 35, of Wachs Road waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday on charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, DUI – high rate of alcohol, DUI – controlled substance, DUI – combination of alcohol/drugs, careless driving and reckless driving.
