South Allegheny to create new dean of students position

South Allegheny junior and senior high school students who break the rules may soon have to face the dean.
South Allegheny School Board approved the creation of a new Dean of Students position at the high school campus, which houses seventh through 12th grades. The dean will handle disciplining students, freeing up the principals to help teachers “get better at their craft, instead of dealing with discipline,” said superintendent Dr. Lisa Duval.
“It’s a busy job. My biggest thing is, when you have someone do that, it allows the principals to focus on academics and education,” Duval said.
