Charleroi resident and former Mayor Nancy Ellis is heading back to “jail” for a good cause.
To benefit the Charleroi Regional Police Department and the K-9 unit, a Team Blitz Appreciation Day celebration will be held at Fourth Street BBQ Sept. 19.
Proceeds from the event will benefit K-9 Blitz and his “Paw-tners.” There will be a jail bail from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A gift auction and 50/50 raffle will be held from 3 to 7 p.m.
Ellis is hoping to raise at least $5,000 for the department to purchase new Tasers, a laptop and to replenish the K-9 fund.
“So I am going back to jail and this time my bail will be $5,000,” Ellis said.
