Raven’s Hands to host dinner theater fundraiser to support Mon Valley families

The fundraiser is set for Saturday at SPHS Riverside Place in Charleroi.

For the MVI

Raven’s Hands, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping families access essential resources and support, will host a dinner theater fundraiser Saturday at SPHS Riverside Place, 303 Chamber Plaza in Charleroi.

Doors open at 5 p.m., with tickets priced at $35 per person. Guests will enjoy dinner, live musical entertainment featuring returning performers Eliashib Alfred and Aldair Rene, professional actors from Westmoreland Performing Arts in Greensburg, and an evening of community fellowship and fundraising. A special fragrance bar will also be available, with all proceeds from the fragrance bar benefiting Raven’s Hands.

Proceeds from the event will help support the nonprofit’s growing programs and its mission to provide essential items, information and resources to families throughout the Mon Valley.

Founded in April 2025 by Jessica Anderson, Raven’s Hands was created in memory of her late husband, Raven, whose generosity and commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on those around him. Raven was known for using his skills and talents to help neighbors, particularly seniors and individuals who needed a helping hand, never expecting payment in return.

Following his passing, Anderson wanted to find a meaningful way to continue that legacy of kindness and service. Drawing on her own years of experience working in social services and her understanding of the challenges families face, she established Raven’s Hands to help bridge gaps in resources and provide practical support to those who need it most.

Today, Raven’s Hands is a registered nonprofit serving families throughout the Mon Valley. Its work focuses on helping families obtain essential items, particularly those needed to care for infants and young children. Items distributed include strollers, bassinets, Pack ‘n Plays and other safe sleep spaces, infant car seats, baby carriers, high chairs, nursing pillows, diaper bags, blankets, clothing and other necessities. The organization also assists families with referrals to community resources, including diaper and formula banks, and provides information to help parents make informed decisions about their children’s health and well-being.

Beyond material assistance, Raven’s Hands believes that supporting families means creating opportunities for connection, learning and encouragement. Through community activities, educational programming and family-centered events, the organization strives to strengthen families and remind parents that they are not alone.

Although still a relatively young organization, Raven’s Hands has already made a meaningful impact in the community. As requests for assistance continue to grow, fundraising events and community partnerships are essential to ensuring that the organization can continue responding to families’ needs.

Anderson hopes the event on Saturday will bring together community members, businesses and supporters for an enjoyable evening while raising awareness and funds for an important local cause.

“Every item we provide represents one less thing a family has to worry about. Sometimes something as simple as a stroller, a safe place for a baby to sleep or a warm blanket can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life. Raven’s Hands was created to carry on a legacy of helping others, and we hope to continue that work for many years to come.”

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online through Zeffy. The link is: https://www.zeffy.com/ en-US/ticketing/dinner-theater– 1172026 Community members are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. For additional information, tickets and updates, visit the Raven’s Hands Facebook page.

Community support, whether through attending an event, making a donation or sharing the organization’s mission, helps Raven’s Hands continue putting essential resources into the hands of families who need them.
