Details of the Allenport accident are still under investigation.

An Allenport man was struck and killed by a train late Friday afternoon.

Anthony Michael Chilzer, 43, was hit by a Norfolk Southern train around 5:10 p.m. as he was crossing the railway in a motorized wheelchair at the Bridge Street crossing in Allenport, according to  Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco.

Video recorded by a railroad enthusiast shows the warning signals, and crossing gates in working order at the time of the accident, according to the release, which stated it was not clear why Chilzer was crossing the tracks.

The coroner’s office, Norfolk Southern and Allenport police departments are investigating the incident. The cause and manner were pending as of press time Friday.

Pennsylvania State Police, Stockdale Fire Department and Rostraver EMS also assisted at the scene.
