Three of the boaters who died following a collision between a recreational passenger boat and a barge on the Monongahela River Sunday night have been identified.
Greene County Chief Deputy Coroner Martin J. Yoskovich said the victims have been identified as Eric Rockwell, 58, and Racquelle Rockwell, 56, both of Scenery Hill, and Brian Selvoski, 57, of Bentleyville.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and U.S. Coast Guard are investigating the crash, while the causes and manner of death remain pending autopsy results.
The bodies of all three missing boaters had been recovered as of early Wednesday morning, said Mike Palmer, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
A member of the public called 911 to report seeing a “floating object” in the river as observed near Rices Landing in Greene County.
Palmer said the recovery confirmed the boating incident — following a collision between a recreational passenger boat and a barge Sunday night — resulted in four fatalities, with only one survivor.
A man and a woman were pulled from the water on the evening of the crash and airlifted to the hospital. Police said the woman died Monday at West Virginia University’s medical center.
Palmer did not have an update on the man’s condition on Wednesday.
The identity of the woman who died in the hospital has not yet been released.
Palmer said two bodies were recovered from the Monongahela River Tuesday around 4 p.m. after sonar led divers to the location, in the vicinity of the boat collision, according to the spokesperson.
