New cfsbank branch in California will open Oct. 5
The company decided to move into the borough after requests from residents.

California Borough residents didn’t have to wait long for a new bank to open in the heart of town.
On Tuesday, cfsbank announced that its new full-service branch in California will officially open Oct. 5 at 256 Third St.
The opening marks an important milestone for both cfsbank and the California community. Earlier this year, following KeyBank’s announcement that it would be leaving California, community leaders reached out to cfsbank about the possibility of establishing a branch in the borough.
Recognizing the importance of maintaining access to local banking services, cfsbank moved quickly to explore the opportunity and hear directly from residents, businesses and community leaders.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, and cfsbank made the decision to move forward with establishing a full-service branch in California.
“We didn’t initially have California on our expansion plan, but when a community tells you they need a bank and asks you to be part of their future, you listen,” said cfsbank President and CEO John Gill. “The response we have received from California has been incredible. We’re excited to open our doors and become a permanent part of this community.”
In the months leading up to the opening, cfsbank has worked to establish relationships throughout California, hosting a community town hall, participating in local events and offering temporary account-opening sessions so residents and businesses could begin establishing their banking relationships before the permanent branch opened.
The California branch will offer the same full range of banking services available at cfsbank’s other locations, providing local residents, businesses and organizations with convenient access to personal and business banking, lending and other financial services.
The branch will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays.
The new location will be led by California branch manager Jessica “Jess” Smith, who brings banking experience along with a personal connection to the California community. Joining Smith at the branch will be Michael Streets and Joshua Wright, both former Key-Bank employees who previously worked at the California location.
By bringing familiar local banking professionals onto the cfsbank team, the bank hopes to provide continuity for area customers while combining that familiarity with cfsbank’s relationship- focused approach to community banking.
“California is home to me, so having the opportunity to lead a cfsbank branch right here in this community is incredibly special,” Smith said. “I’m especially excited about the team we’ve put together. Michael and Joshua already know so many of the people and businesses in this community, and together we’re looking forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces through our doors.
