3-vehicle crash in Speers

Charleroi firefighters responded to a three-vehicle crash near State Street and Maple Drive in Speers Monday afternoon. Charleroi Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said the call came in around 3:50 p.m. Four people, including the three drivers and a passenger, were involved. Three were taken by Rostraver-West Newton Emergency Services to an area hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. Two vehicles were towed from the scene by Bujanowski Towing, while the third was able to be driven away. State Street was closed for about 30 minutes as crews cleared debris and other hazards, adding to congestion caused by ongoing roadwork in the area. Whiten said traffic backed up past the westbound off-ramp during the closure. Charleroi Regional Police, Rostraver-West Newton Emergency Services and Bujanowski Towing assisted firefighters at the scene. The cause of the crash was not immediately available. Charleroi VFD
