Westmoreland County Sheriff James Albert to seek reelection

Westmoreland County Sheriff JamesAlbert has announced he will seek reelection.

Albert was elected sheriff in November 2019, after retiring from more than 25 years of service as a district judge in Greensburg. He previously worked as a Greensburg city police officer, a Westmoreland County detective and a deputy county sheriff.

Albert said there is “more work to be done.”

“In 2020 we took control of this sheriff’s office that was in complete disarray and turmoil…by bringing decades of law enforcement and management experience we haye made tremendous progress in restoring integrity and pride in this sheriff’s office,” Albert stated “We have upgraded the computer system, allowing us to bring in over five and a half million dollars in 2025. We increased training in all departments affecting our staff of over 70 deputies. There have been no lawsuits filed against this office under the leadership of this administration. I thank my officers for their diligent efforts.”

The general election is Nov. 3.
