Fatal Expressway crash involves wrong-way driver

NEWS BRIEF

One person died in a wrongway collision on the Mon/ Fayette Expressway in Fallowfield Township early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. near the Donora exit on Route 43.

The Washington County coroner identified the person who died as Jacob Matthew Huber, 24, of Ruffs Dale.

Huber was traveling south when a vehicle headed the wrong way in the southbound lanes crashed head-on into Huber’s car, according to the coroner’s report.

Pennsylvania State Police said the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger, both of whom live in Ohio, were flown to a hospital with injuries from the crash.

The wrong-way driver exited Interstate 70 and started traveling north in the southbound lanes of PA 43 for an unknown reason, police said.

The crash is under investigation by state troopers at the Jefferson Hills station.
