Venue Summer Evening Market begins Thursday
It’s set to be held every week through October.
A new weekly summer market is set to debut this week at Sunny Days Arena, offering residents a place to shop local, enjoy dinner and connect with community organizations.
The Venue Summer Evening Market will hold its opening event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the arena, located at 1701 Lincoln Highway, Suite 247, in North Versailles.
Organizers plan to continue the market every Thursday evening through October.
The weekly event will feature local vendors, food trucks, food tents, nonprofits, community organizations, small businesses and a special Book Lovers Corner designed to appeal to readers of all ages.
The market came together through a community partnership after plans for an earlier version of the event changed.
Amanda Craven, a North Huntingdon resident and owner of The Yellow Daisy, said she stepped in after learning Sunny Days Arena still wanted to move forward with the idea.
“I am a working mom, small business owner and North Huntingdon resident who lives right down the road from Sunny Days Arena,” Craven said. “I had originally planned to attend the market when I saw that plans for the original event had changed. After seeing that Sunny Days Arena still wanted to bring the market to life, I reached out to offer my event planning and vendor coordination experience.”
Craven said her experience organizing events and working with local businesses made the opportunity a natural fit.
“Through my business, The Yellow Daisy, and my involvement with the Norwin Chamber of Commerce and the Irwin Business & Professional Association, including serving as chairperson for Gig on Main in Downtown Irwin, I have built relationships with local vendors, small businesses and community partners,” she said. “Sunny Days Arena and I are aligned in wanting to create a strong weekly market that brings foot traffic to North Versailles and supports small businesses in the area.”
Craven hopes the market will become a regular gathering place for families and neighbors throughout the summer and early fall.
“The goal is to create a Thursday evening destination where families can grab dinner, shop local, meet small business owners, support nonprofits, and enjoy a relaxed summer night in the community,” Craven said.
Vendor applications remain open for makers, food vendors, food trucks, authors, book-themed vendors, nonprofits, community organizations and other small businesses interested in participating throughout the season.
